LAS COMPUERTAS

We manage 20 hectares of vineyards planted in the early 20th century (between 1927 and 1930). The altitude here provides cold nights and ideal temperature variations to preserve the natural acidity and freshness of the grapes.

The soils are of alluvial origin, with a sandy and clay-loam texture ranging from 1 to 2 meters deep, supported by a subsoil of gravel and rounded stones that occasionally surface. We still use furrow irrigation. Malbec thrives exceptionally well in these highly permeable soils, where its roots dig through the rounded stones and reach great depths.

Our old vines naturally regulate their yields, producing wines with remarkable concentration. Generations of local families have passed down their knowledge and passion for vineyard work. It is in this traditional place that one of our wineries is located, dedicated exclusively to crafting wines from our 90-year-old, ungrafted old vines.

VISTALBA

In Vistalba we have rented an old Bonarda vineyard that is 100 years old. This variety is not a common one in high lands. It is planted with the trailing system of VSP on clayey soils with rocky subsoil and a good permeability. With a low yielding due to their age, this vineyard gives us a fresh and concentrated wine.

GUALTALLARY

It’s one of the highest areas in Uco Valley, that is why it has one of the coldest climate in our region, a place where it hardly ever rains. Its height is 1400 to 1500 masl and for its latitude it results in an extreme combination of temperature, solar light and humidity ideal for wines with a great aromatic intensity, vibrant and tense. We are managing 20 hectares of vineyard located in different sites of this little terroir and it gives us a great diversity of exposures and soils: alluvial, meager, extremely rocky, and with a lot of calcium carbonate and sand.

LA CARRERA

In this unique valley, located by the riverbanks of the Chupasangral River and its alluvial cone, we have grown Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines. Soils with a lot of organic material and layers of gravel form a unique combination that generate a limiting natural factor for the growing of these plants. Its location, 1600 meters above sea level turns this area into the coldest of Uco Valley. Our grapes mature very slowly giving our white wines a natural balance of acidity-ph-sugar very unusual for continental Mendoza.
