República del Malbec

$ 69.000,00

This Malbec comes from the highest area of the traditional Lujan de Cuyo, Las Compuertas, a small terroir located at 1100 masl.

It is made with grapes coming from a single vineyard that was planted in 1927 ungrafted. The soils are alluvial, sandy and clay loamy, one meter high with a gravel and boulder subsoil that sometimes appears on the surface and where we maintain the traditional flood irrigation.

The grapes are destemmed getting naturally, by gravity, into small open oak vats where Malbec ferments with wild yeast at a temperature between 25º to 27º C. During several weeks we carry out a gentle punch down with our hands in order to obtain a slow extraction. Aging continues in French oak barrels and oak foudres for more than a year.
